About Catie Sherman Consultancy

Working with heart, walking with care
Hi, I’m Catie - a qualified social worker with over a decade of experience across child protection, supervision, program development and leadership in both government and community sectors.

I believe deeply in the power of human connection. When people are supported and heard, they’re better placed to lead change; whether in their own lives, their families, or their organisations.

I’m passionate about walking alongside individuals and teams to strengthen reflective practice, build confidence, and support outcomes that truly serve children, families and community.

I bring specialist knowledge in the design and implementation of Delegated Authority and the transfer of decision-making to Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations; through work across both Section 18 in Victoria and Delegated Authority in Queensland. As a non-Indigenous ally, I’m committed to cultural safety, two-way learning, and sharing my practice knowledge in ways that serve and uplift community leadership.

My approach is grounded in Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused, Narrative and trauma-informed practices; with a relational, person-led lens. I’ve seen time and again the impact that a well-supported, values-aligned workforce can have on family reunification, carer stability, and positive systems change.

I wholeheartedly believe: how we grow and care for our teams is how we create meaningful impact.

“I want to thank Catie for the support she has given me both professionally and personally. I usually find it difficult to open up, but Catie made me feel comfortable and able to share parts of myself. Personal experience:

“I have had a number of Supervision sessions with Catie. On each and every occasion I came away with a feeling of being supported. I have been in this industry for the best part of twenty years and Catie has helped me develop professionally and has had a calming effect on me when I was feeling overwhelmed with my workload. Catie is a person that I would highly recommend engaging with as I can attest to her sound knowledge of this industry, her ability to give you the safe secure feeling that this process is all about you, which made me feel valued as a person and an employee. I am an Aboriginal woman and I felt culturally safe in sharing with Catie.”
